Although many people today tend to relate GED and high school diploma due to their similarities, they are actually 2 very different things. In fact, they have more differences than similarities.
They are the same in the sense that they both serve to signify that you have reached a certain level of knowledge. They are different when it comes to the amount of time you would have to put into concentrating on getting them. Also, they have a different set of requirements for completion. Determining for yourself which particular educational stepping stone is for you will need a complete evaluation of what you really want in the future.
The first, and probably most known, difference that majority can see is the huge margin when it comes to age. In majority of the states that make use of the GED, you can only take its series of tests only after you have reached 16 years old. The only thing you need to make sure of is that you are not presently attending high school or you have not already graduated high school. In other states, there are other requirements that need to be met for a GED to be obtained.
On the other hand, for a high school diploma, there is absolutely no exact age as a minimum. You just have to complete the coursework that has been stipulated depending on the respective district.
